Solar

• Its main company is Solucar Energia and its activities focus on the conception, design, promotion, financial closing, construction and exploration of electric energy generation facilities, using the sun as its primary source of energy. It has the knowledge and the technology for thermoelectric solar production installations: central receiving systems, parabolic cylinder and disk collector, as well as facilities for the production of photovoltaic solar energy, with or without concentration.

Bioenergy

• Its main company is Abengoa Bioenergia, directed to the production and development of biofuels for transportation, including bioethanol and biodiesel, which use biomass as feedstock (cereals, cellulosic biomass, oleaginous seeds). Biofuels are used in the production of ETBE (gasoline additives), or in direct mixtures with gasoline or gasoil. As renewable energy sources, biofuels reduce the emission of CO2 and contribute to safety and diversification in the supply of energy, reducing the dependency on fossil fuels used for automobile locomotion and contributing to the fulfillment of the Kyoto Protocol.
