New transmission lines of electric energy come into operation in Brazil
The transmission lines Campos Novos - Videira, state of Santa Catarina, and Cascavel Oeste - Foz
do Iguaçu Norte, Paraná, both in the south of the country, are already in operation and mark a new
stage in Abengoa Brazil, which will make the operation and maintenance with its own staff.
The 230 kV transmission line Campos Novos - Videira, belongs to the concessionaire ATE VI -
Campos Novos Transmissora de Energia S.A. It was energized on July 5th, 2009, and has 68 km long,
in double circuit. The substation Videira, with voltage of 230 / 138 kV and two transformers of 150
MVA each, also began the activities with success.
The following month, on August 9th, was the turn of another concessionaire of Abengoa Brazil,
Ate VII - Foz do Iguaçu Transmissora de Energia SA, to energize the 230 kV transmission line
Cascavel Oeste - Foz do Iguaçu Norte. This one is a simple circuit with 115 km long. The substation
Foz do Iguacu Norte, 230/138 kV, with 150 MVA of power, came into operation then, and the results
met expectations. This substation is strategic for the distribution of energy for Foz do Iguaçu
city and surroundings.
The new transmission lines in Santa Catarina and Paraná are the first of seven lines to come
into operation. The forecast is that until the beginning of 2010, the other ones are in activity,
totaling approximately 500 km of new lines and annual revenues of BRL 51 million for 30 years.
