Abengoa Brasil mobilized in order to help victims of the worst rain storm in history of Rio de Janeiro State.
Retired woman, Maria Luíza Rodrigues, 65 year-old, dedicates part of her time to working as a volunteer at social work of City Southern Zone International Community Church.
Landslides, dead and and chaos in the city´s infrastructure, she knew she would have a lot to do in order to help homeless people and families who had lost everything .What Mrs Maria Luiza could not imagine then was that among victims were some relatives of hers, who lived on Francisco Gois Bastos Street, in Jardim Republica in Sao Gonçalo, one of the most damaged places. Her sister, nephews and cousins had their house invaded by water and were obliged to leave at dawn, leaving everything behind. This situation was lived by the majority of people from this community. By leading one group who mobilized to obtain donations, she was supported by Abengoa Brasil employees, who solidarily donated clothes, blankets, portable matresses, drinking water, unperishable food, cleaning and personal hygienic items.
