Inauguration of Santa Clara Workshop
The Santa Rita de Cassia Orphanage, run by the Congregation Irmãs Franciscanas de Nossa Senhora de Bom Conselho, now has an industrial kitchen. The food prepared at this kitchen has a different flavor... The flavor of fulfilling the dream of having an appropriate space to serve the residents of Seca Square, in the neighborhood Jacarepaguá, Rio de Janeiro.
The space, called Santa Clara Workshop, was opened to the community in March, with the celebration of the Mass, and attended by directors and employees of the company, who voluntarily participated in the activities.
The workshop, installed in the new building constructed by Abengoa Brasi, will be used for cooking classes and lectures, not only for the families of the girls who go to the orphanage, but also for the residents of that region. According to Sister Mabel, responsible for the Orphanage, this resource will supply an existing demand.
"We look for actions that may transform the excluding social reality lived by these people, many of them without access to essential services, and subjected to problems such as unemployment and violence. The training center will give them condition to have a profession, rescue self-esteem and value people", says Sister Mabel.
