Start Up of Commercial Operations - ATE III
The project was the result of a public auction held by ANEEL – Agência Nacional de Energia
Elétrica – [National Agency of Electric Energy], Invitation to Bid number Nº 001/2005 Lot A.
In accordance with the established rules, the winning company established a Specific Purpose
Entity called ATE III Transmissora de Energia S.A., signing a 30-year Electric Energy Transmission
Contract with ANEEL.
The ATE III transmission line corresponds to the North-South III Interconnection Section,
with 318 kilometers in 500 kV and 107 kilometers in 230 kV, including of sub-sections Colinas
– Itacaiúnas, 500 kV simple circuit; Itacaiúnas – Carajás, 230 kV double circuit;
Itacaiúnas – Marabá, 500 kV double circuit and the 500 /230 kV – 900 megavolts-ampere
Substation Itacaiúnas.
The project is located in the North Region, in the States of Tocantins and Pará. This region
is known for its high potential of mineral production and the objective of these installations is
to supply the demand for electric energy that the growth of the mining activity requires.
With the operational start up of this Abengoa system, Abengoa Brasil already has 2,140
kilometers of transmission lines in commercial operation out of a total of 3,200 kilometers won in
concessions.
